Maintenance
As promised at the beginning of the month, we've opened up the network for viewing to non-members. We want to remind you up front that, if you want to restrict who can see your profile, go to your personal privacy settings page and configure it to reflect your comfort level (everyone, members only, friends only).

Also mentioned in the same update at the beginning of the month, we have swept away the profile questions for favorite books, music and movies, and instead encourage everyone to make use of the general "Interests" question to fill in these details. Since not everyone has already updated their profiles, we have backed up this information for everyone and can it to those that request their own information by sending us message.

Typing in French
As Americans, it's a safe bet that most Yankois use the standard U.S. "qwerty" style keyboard, which is unfortunately not well-suited to typing French characters. Since we want to reduce every barrier to communicating in French possible, we've added an in-site keyboard that includes all of the necessary accented characters, guillemets and more.

To use it, simply click into any text box on the site and it will automatically appear. Clicking on a key will insert that character into the textbox where you had been typing and you can just continue typing afterward.

And if you'd noticed recent messages posted by us that have a mysterious button in the corner to flip between French and English, those were tests of the other major feature of this keyboard. It allows you to write a post (on your blog, in the forum, as a comment, etc) in both French and English and then clearly separate the two translations in a way that lets the reader choose which to read.

Des rénos
Comme prévu il y a deux semaine, on a ouvert le site à lire par les gens qui n'ont pas leur propre compte. Souvenez-vous que vous avez le droit de contrôler qui (n'importe qui, les membres, vos amis) peut regarder votre profil par changer les paramètres de confidentialité de votre compte.
On a mentionné comme partie du même message, qu'on allait supprimer les questions de profil: ««favorite books », «favorite music » et « favorite movies. » On demande à tout le monde d'utiliser le champ général, « Interests » pour partages ces informations. Comme il y a toujours quelques uns qui n'ont pas encore mis à jour leur profil, on a enregistré ces informations et on est capable de les envoyer par requête. Pour le faire, envoyez-nous un message.

Tapant en français
Comme des américains, c'est quelque chose de sûr que la plupart des yankois utilisent le style de clavier qui est standard aux États-Unis, le « qwerty » qui ne permet pas bien de taper les lettres françaises. Comme on voudrait franchir les barrières de communication françaises, on a ajouté un clavier de site qui inclut les caractères accentués, les guillemets et encore plus.

Pour l'utiliser, cliquez dans n'importe champ de texte qui fait partie du site et le clavier va apparaître. Cliquer une clé pour insérer son caractère dans le champ de texte où on s'être arrêté de taper, et on peut continuer immédiatement à taper.

Ce clavier vous permet aussi d'écrire vos affiches (au blogue, au forum, comme commentaire, etc) en anglais et en français et les séparer dans un façon claire qui libère le lecteur à choisir celui qu'il veut lire.
