We're so glad you've decided to join our community! We believe this site is an opportunity to discover, not just who we were, as so many Franco-American efforts preoccupy themselves with, but who we are and what we can do to ensure that we continue to be free to be ourselves. Unlike Facebook or MySpace, which are able profile-hosting networks and communication tools, we can be that and more! We can be a true expression of real community. So it is with the utmost pride and joy that I welcome you!

The home page

The purpose of the front page is to display the most recent and upcoming activity of our community online and in the real-world. Here you'll see new members, photos, music and videos as they enter the network as well as new and updated discussions, blog posts, comments, etc. In short, if it's happening, this is where you can see it.

The tabs

If what you want to make happen isn't related to the recent or upcoming events that are currently on the front page, you may well want to cast your eye on the list of options across the top of the page. These tabs are how you access all of our features including: our forum, group and blog discussion features (under "Parler"), our music, video and photo sharing features (under "Partager") as well as being how to access your profile, find other members and visit our merchandise store. So please, take a look around.

"My page"

This is where your friends (or whomever you allow) can see just the things that you have shared or discussed, leave you messages and see whatever other information you'd like to share. You can also add applications to your profile to make it more useful to you personally with games, communications tools or whatever suits you.

Introduce Yourself

Now that you've joined and know the place better, you should log onto the introductions discussion in the forum, read up a little on who makes up our community and introduce yourself.

What's new

We send out occassional messages, we aim for never more often than once a month, to update all our users about changes to the site and any big news we have to share. But, if you're too eager to wait for the next message you can stay ahead of the curve by following the official profile of Chez Yankois that we update as things happen.

Getting Help

And finally, we understand that not all of our many features will be perfectly clear all of the time, so we have created, what we hope, is a very useful FAQ page to explain them in more detail. Please peruse it if you have any questions or just to better know what our community has to offer. If you still have questions after consulting the FAQ, you can post your them to the help discussion in the forum for assistance from other members.
And you always have the option to contact one of the administrators through our profile pages.
