We attended the 2004 congrès mondial acadien in the Clare region of Nova Scotia. We were there for the opening ceremonies and the Doucet/Doucette family reunion. There were about 700 Doucet/Doucette family members present from all over North America and even a Doucette journalist from England who covered it for the BBC. It was really incredible.
There will also probably be a Doucet/Doucette family reunion in the Bathurst, NB. region on August 21. I have been in contact with Jean-Yves Doucette, the chairman of the family reunion committee.
He is currently, of course, seeking more volunteers.
His contact information can be found on CMA 2009 web site along with contact information for many dozens of family reunions scheduled for this August.
Check it out if you have even a smidgen of proud Acadian blood flowing through your veins.

The CMA2009 has announced that this is the offical theme of the Congress.
