Franco-American Women's Project, Borders and Beyond:
Report From the Classroom
Rhea Côté Robbins, M.A., Author and Adjunct Professor, Women's Studies
Rosemary Cyr, M.A. Candidate, MALS Graduate Program with a focus on Maine Studies
Danielle M. Laliberté, M.A. Candidate, Department of Modern Languages
Brittney Veilleux, M.A. Candidate in English with a concentration in Women's Studies.
What constitutes the story of a cultural group such as Franco-American women? Métis women? Francophone women of color? What does the absence of these women mean in the area of Ethnic or Women’s Studies in anthologies, textbooks and more? Borders, boundaries, time, space, texts, contexts, events, and the future will be examined through the lens of Franco-American/Métis/Francophone women of color.
The graduate students, who took the course last semester, will present their final projects, while the instructor, Rhea Cote Robbins, will present her latest research and thoughts on the new course.
